Looking Ahead to Spring

As we approach the spring season I have seen many things that our team can build upon. Based upon some of the games(or points) at Mardi Gras this team definitely has the potential to make it out of our section and make some noise at regionals. While this is a goal we have for the season it wont be possible unless every member of the team puts the time in during practice and outside of it. That means going to the track and gym on days we don't have practice, while it isn't necessarily manditory yet it is highly encouraged. Everyone on this team needs to be in shape come sectionals because thats what it will come down to on Sunday and whoever the better conditioned teams are will be the ones traveling to Princeton for Regionals.

Like any normal person, I dont enjoy running one bit. There are plenty of other things I would rather do than run around a track or up stairs, especially now when its usually 30-40 degrees outside. The main point im trying to get across is that no matter how much you dont want to run or lift, it has to be done. It also has to be done by everyone on the team (atleast the running) because if one person isnt in shape they are hurting the team on the field. Everyone has to be able to play both sides of the disc and while some arent as experienced or dont have the drive to play defense like others they still need to be able to run and stay with their men. The success of this team depends so much on everyone on the field. That is part of the reason we have be doing so well, because everyone on the field has a role and as long as they fulfill that we'll score that point or win that game. May sound kind of lame but im sure all of the veterans would agree. So when your going to the track or are in the gym think about the reason why your doing this and think about your teammates and how they are also putting in the work outside of practice. It also helps to think about how well this team will do if everyone is in top shape.
Anyways the reason I decided to write this wasn't just for motivation or to guilt people into working out. It was focused more towards reminding everyone that its going to take a lot of work to make this spring a successful season. By putting the time in now, it will make it possible to beat teams such as Delaware or Maryland or Salisbury at Sectionals. It may take a lot more work than your used to but it is definitely possible. So stop thinking about it and go out and do it and don't just do it for yourself, do it for your teammates because they are right next to you sucking air and contemplating whether or not they should do one more.
I hope this wasn't a complete waste or your time, feel free to add any thoughts that you have...its strongly encouraged.

Motivational Quotes

Just some food for thought as we begin this new semester-

"If you sacrifice early, you'll win late."-- Charles Haley

"Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work." --Vince Lombardi

"Individual glory is insignificant when compared to achieving victory as a team." --Dot Richardson

"Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game."-- Michael Jordan

"People who enjoy what they are doing invariably do it well.”-Joe Gibbs

“Failures are expected by losers, ignored by winners.”-Joe Gibbs

Hope everyones been having a good break and has been keeping in decent shape. I know I personally cant wait for this semester to start and get some fuuuuurzzzzbee goin. Try and think of these quotes above not only for frisbee, but with everything you do. Always be thinking how you can better yourself.

Hello fellas I thought it might be a good idea to start up a blog for the team. I made the account so that everyone has access to post on it. I figured we could do tournament right ups and all that good stuff, including motivational thoughts. Anyways if you have some ideas, feel free to post them.
